Corsets 

Corsets have been used for hundreds of years. Originally, they were designed to make the body look aesthetically pleasing and give the torso an hourglass shape. Both men and women use corsets, however, today, women are the dominant wearers of corsets. Today, corsets are still worn to change the shape of the body, but not to such drastic measures that they have been in the past. Today, the term corset has been adopted by many of the fashion industry to describe any kind of top that mimics a lingerie corset because they are designed to hold tight what we prefer didn't move around such as excess belly fat or a larger chest.

Corsets throughout history used to be steel boned. These were thin strips of steel wrapped in satin or silk that would lace up in the back to hold things in place. Plus sized women would wear these under their petticoats to give them a voluptuous hourglass figure that were very sought after. By wearing a corset, a woman was still able to eat as she pleased but show off her shape and size in an appropriate manner that said she was of childbearing nature, something that was very important at the time. The bigger the woman was, the sexier she was considered to be. Being bigger was also a sign of wealth because it meant you could afford to eat as you liked.

Today, a poor quality corset is made of plastic boning inserted into either a silk or satin corset that can be laced up in the front, back or both sides. They do not shape as nicely as the steel boned corsets do can often become misshapen unlike steel boned corsets. Plus size women often wear corsets and other corset-like tops to accentuate their chests and make it a focal point instead of other parts of their body they wish were not so big.

Corsets are the sexiest piece of lingerie that you can own. Most corsets have straps that you can use to attach thigh-high nylons that appeal to both men and women. Many corsets also come with a matching garter belt or other accessories that match and can be included for an additional price, some of these items include special nylons, extra bows, underwear or girdle. A corset is a piece of "investment" lingerie, as they are sometimes expensive. The price that you would pay for a piece of lingerie that will shape, and hold your chest and stomach in place to give a slimming, sexier you is worth the money. Properly made corsets with steel boning are well constructed and can be worn for several years if you follow their care instructions correctly.
