A vintage suspender belt normally had two or three suspender straps with metal stocking clasps on each side attached to a stiff, reinforced strip of material (at least two or three inches wide) that fastened around the waist. Three suspenders (or a six strap suspender belt) work best in attaching the vintage seamed stockings because the two-suspender version did not hold the stocking as tight.
